DECLARING THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST OF EVERY YEAR AS SIGHT-CONSERVATION WEEK
WHEREAS, a preliminary survey made by the Philippine Eye Bank shows that approximately 40,000 blind Filipinos could have saved their sight if the necessary precautions had been taken; and
WHEREAS, this fact points up the necessity of carrying on an educational campaign throughout the country to prevent blindness among the people;
Now; THEREFORE, I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the first week of August of every year as Sight-Conservation Week and designate the Philippine Eye Bank to take charge of the celebration of the Week.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
