MAKING PUBLIC THE PROTOCOL FOR LIMITING AND REGULATING THE CULTIVATION OF THE POPPY PLANT, THE PRODUCTION OF, INTERNATIONAL AND WHOLESALE TRADE IN, AND USE OF OPIUM, JUNE 23, 1953
WHEREAS, the Philippines is a signatory of the Protocol for Limiting and Regulating the Cultivation of the Polly Plant, the Production of, International and Wholesale Trade in, and Use of Opium, concluded and signed at New York on June 31, 1953;
WHEREAS, Article 17 of the Protocol provides that it shall be ratified and that the instruments of ratification shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations;
WHEREAS, the Senate of the Congress of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 36; adopted on March 15, 1955, concurred in the making of the said Protocol in accordance with the Constitution of the Philippines;
WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines has formally ratified the said Protocol and deposited its instrument of ratification on June 1, 1955 with the Secretary-General of the United Nations;
Now, therefore, be it known that I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, have caused the said Protocol, a copy of which is hereto attached, to be made public to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and the citizens thereof.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the seal of the Republic of the Philippines.
