DECLARING A PERIOD OF NATIONAL MOURNING OVER THE DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT ELPIDIO QUIRINO
WHEREAS, the sudden death of former President Elpidio Quirino on February 29, 1956, is a great loss to our people and has caused deep sorrow among them;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim the period from March first to fifteenth, nineteen hundred and fifty-six, as a period of national mourning for our beloved former President. During this period, flags of all government buildings and installations throughout the Philippines shall be, flown at half-mast.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 1st day of March, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-six, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the tenth.
