[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1333, March 18, 2022 ]
DECLARING 18 MARCH 2022 TO 17 MARCH 2023 AS THE CENTENARY YEAR OF THE ACCOUNTANCY PROFESSION IN THE PHILIPPINES
WHEREAS, Section 2 of Republic Act No. 9298 or the "Philippine Accountancy Act of 2004," recognizes the importance of accountants in nation-building, and declares it a State policy to develop and nurture competent, virtuous, productive and well-rounded professional accountants, whose standard of practice and service shall be qualitative, world class and globally competitive;
WHEREAS,on 17 March 1923, the Sixth Philippine Legislature passed Act No. 3105, which legally recognized the accountancy profession, and created the Board of Accountancy with the authority to promulgate rules and regulations, set professional standards for the practice of the profession, and issue certification to qualified public accountants;
WHEREAS, the accountancy profession in the Philippines has promoted and sustained the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, and produced thousands of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) of invaluable integrity and service, who have contributed immensely to the development of our nation, especially in the fields of business, finance and trade; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Accountancy will conduct a year-long celebration to commemorate the centenary year of the accountancy profession in the Philippines, which will begin on 18 March 2022 and culminate on 17 March 2023;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERE, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare 18 March 2022 to 17 March 2023 as the "Centenary Year of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines."
For this purpose, the Board of Accountancy, under the Professional Regulation Commission, shall lead the observance of the Centenary Year of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines.
All other agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are hereby enjoined, and all local government units, non-government organizations, professional associations, and the private sector, are hereby encouraged to actively participate and render the necessary support and assistance to the Board of Accountancy for the effective implementation of this Proclamation.
