[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 937, June 20, 1953 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE MONEY DONATED BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The sum of four hundred eleven thousand five hundred fifty-seven pesos and twelve centavos is appropriated out of the trust fund in the Department of Foreign Affairs donated by the British Government to the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, amounting to seventy-three thousand five hundred twenty-six pounds, fifteen shillings, and eight pence, which shall be used and expended in the sterling countries in accordance with the terms of the donation for the following purposes:

1.
For the acquisition of land, building,   improvements and appurtenances in Australia to house the Philippine Legation, including maintenance expenses
P200,000.00
2.
For the purchase of lot in the diplomatic enclave, New Delhi, India, and for the construction thereon of suitable building to house the Philippine Legation, including maintenance expenses
200,000.00
3.
For the purchase of furniture and Equipment       
1,000.00
4.
For all expenses for the dissemination of information concerning the arts, culture, industry and commerce of the Philippines

Provided, That savings in items 1 and 2 may be used to cover deficiencies in items 3 and 4.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
